For a start, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and holiday season.  For those of you who have been reading my newsletter for a while I thank you with all my heart for your support.  As you know I'm searching just as most of you are and every once in a while I read an article or book that gives me an Ah Ha!  One of those has been germinating over the last few months.  I have been promoting Meditation as a tool for reprogramming the subconscious mind and now, I'm changing my mind as you will see in this months issue.

Feature Article: I'm Changing My Mind

For some time, I've been contemplating Meditation vs. Hypnosis as a personal development tool.  I have even produced and recommended Customized Meditation CD's with silent subliminal affirmations on them. You see my dilemma is that when one is in the alpha or theta brainwave state which occurs in both Meditation and Hypnosis the subconscious mind is open to accepting positive and constructive suggestions which can reprogram limiting beliefs.

To add to my confusion, many people have had great success overcoming their limiting beliefs using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) so I will be addressing these in future articles.

So, this is where I stand on Meditation and Hypnosis after much thought and Meditation.

The purpose of Meditation in my opinion is to get in touch with your Higher Self, your Super Consciousness.  I compare it to setting your internal radio dial to the correct frequency.  When you are "tuned in" you have access to infinite knowledge.  This is the place to go when you are faced with issues for which you're seeking an answer.  This is the place to go when you're seeking wisdom, peace of mind, the spiritual being within.  This is also the place to go for healing whether within yourself or someone you care for.  Ultimately this practice will result in great leaps in your personal development and growth just not in the way I previously believed.

Hypnosis is very beneficial in helping you to address specific limiting beliefs that may be blocking you from progressing towards your desires.  If you are living with low self-esteem because you're too short, too tall, too fat, too thin, too ugly, too pretty/handsome then I would suggest you consider Hypnosis as a possible answer.  There are literally hundreds of Hypnosis programs that deal with specific limiting beliefs.

Hypnosis is as old as time and has been proven effective time and again.  Please understand that what I'm talking about in this article is not stage hypnosis the stuff you see on television.  True Hypnosis performed by professionals is safe and productive.  You cannot be forced to do that which is against your principles with Hypnosis.  You cannot be made to act is if you're Mr. T or bark like a dog.  That is performance not Hypnosis.

My question is no longer Meditation vs. Hypnosis.  My answer is both.  I am not implying in any way that Meditation is not productive.  Meditation is not only productive; I believe it is essential for spiritual growth.  Meditation is how we communicate with the spiritual self, the still small voice within.  Meditation is about listening and tuning in.  Hypnosis is about personal development and reprogramming your limiting beliefs.
